Hamas Official Accuses UN Envoy Mladenov of Escalating Gaza Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Osama Hamdan, a senior member of the Hamas movement, stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that Nickolay Mladenov, the international envoy and high representative of the ‘Peace Council’ in Gaza, is directly responsible for the recent escalation of tensions due to his acceptance of the occupying regime’s narratives in all his reports and meetings.
The Hamas official criticized the performance of the UN envoy, saying, “Mladenov has not taken any tangible action regarding the aggressions of the occupiers and has not condemned these attacks even once.” He further called for Mladenov to either perform his duties properly or officially announce his failure to fulfill his responsibilities to the world.
Hamdan added that Mladenov is undermining efforts that led to the ceasefire agreement by attempting to neutralize the role of mediators. He stated that the Israeli enemy has crossed a “red line,” and Mladenov shows no reaction, does not openly criticize, and does not inform the mediators that this is a breach of commitment that needs to be addressed.
The Hamas official pointed out that Mladenov’s conditioning of the entry of the “Gaza Management National Committee” to the issue of “disarming the resistance” is a political blackmail that has no connection to the terms of the agreement.
Hamdan further stated in another part of the interview, “Our decision until now is to give the agreement a chance to succeed, with the aim of protecting our people and stopping the aggressions against them.”
The Hamas official said, “The attempt to remove the role of mediators has harmed the agreement, and we are striving to ensure that the mediators play their full role in implementing the agreement.”
Hamdan clarified, “Talks with the mediators have not been cut off, and we provide daily reports to the mediators regarding Israel’s violations and Mladenov’s breaches of the ceasefire agreement terms.”
He added, “The resistance has played all its roles in protecting the Palestinian people and defending them.”
Osama Hamdan stated, “The martyrdom of commanders is proof of the resistance’s strength in Gaza, and the policy of assassinations will not break the steadfastness of our people.”
