Trump Claims Ceasefire in Lebanon Following Israeli Strike Threat

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a significant development on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that a ceasefire had been reached in Lebanon. Trump asserted he had a highly constructive telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who assured him that no forces would be deployed to Beirut and any units en route had been recalled. The U.S. President further claimed to have had a positive call with Hezbollah through high-ranking representatives, who agreed to a complete cessation of hostilities. Trump stated that Israel would not attack Hezbollah, and Hezbollah would not attack Israel, proclaiming a ceasefire agreement had been achieved in Lebanon and negotiations with Iran were progressing at an accelerated pace.
Earlier reports from Israel’s Channel 12 indicated that Netanyahu and Trump were engaged in a telephone discussion amidst heightened regional tensions and threats from the Israeli regime to strike the southern suburbs of Beirut. Following these reports, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, citing an informed source, revealed that the regime had intended to launch a major operation against the southern suburbs of Beirut and the command center of Lebanon’s Hezbollah. However, the operation was postponed at the last moment due to American intervention.
Al Mayadeen also reported that Israel’s Channel 12 news stated the phone call between Netanyahu and Trump had postponed the decision-making regarding an attack on southern Beirut, occurring amid efforts to achieve a new ceasefire. This comes as Seyed Abbas Araghchi had previously written on social media that, for immediate attention, a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, without any ambiguity, constitutes a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. Any violation of this ceasefire on any front would be considered a violation on all fronts. He further stated that the United States and Israel would be held responsible for the consequences of any such breach.
Major General Pilot Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya (PBUH) Central Headquarters, had issued a warning hours earlier, stating that Netanyahu, in continuation of his regional provocations, had threatened to bomb Dahieh and Beirut and had issued evacuation warnings to residents. Considering the regime’s repeated breaches of the ceasefire, he cautioned residents in the northern sectors and military settlements in the occupied territories to leave the area if they wished to avoid harm, should this threat be implemented. The President of Iran had also described the repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon, the ongoing displacement of Lebanese citizens, and the political and military support of the United States for the actions of the Israeli regime as concerning, calling for the international community to play an effective role in halting this trend.
