Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Strikes Southern Italy

A powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolted the southern coast of Italy early Tuesday, with the epicenter located near the city of Cosenza in the Calabria region, according to seismic monitoring agencies.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake rattled the southern coast of Italy early Tuesday, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS stated that the tremor occurred at a depth of 247 kilometers. The epicenter of the earthquake was identified as being 38 kilometers from the city of Cosenza, situated in the Calabria region. Separately, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a slightly different magnitude of 6.1 for the same event, noting it occurred at a depth of 253 kilometers. Despite the significant magnitude of the earthquake, no reports of financial damage or casualties have been released thus far, attributed to its considerable depth.
