Pentagon Designates Press Office as Classified Information Zone

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense announced that the ministry has officially banned journalists from entering the Pentagon‘s press office. This building has been categorized as a classified information area.
The Pentagon press office is designated as a zone for interacting with limited information, as it is used for writing speeches belonging to the office of the Secretary of Defense. The spokesperson stated that due to regular use of classified information by staff, the presence of unauthorized individuals, particularly journalists, in this room is prohibited.
In May of last year, the Pentagon released new lists that restricted the presence of media representatives in Department of Defense buildings, citing concerns about the leakage of classified information. Journalists can only access specific rooms with the presence of ministry staff upon prior authorization.
Following the Pentagon’s actions to limit journalists’ access, dozens of reporters resigned from their media teams in protest against these policies.
