US Analyst: Trump’s Lebanon Stance Signals Iran’s Growing Influence

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Robert Pape, a professor of political science at the University of Chicago, stated on the social media platform X that a recent message from Donald Trump signifies an escalation in Iran’s power. Iran had announced that it would not participate in any negotiations while Israel continued to attack Hezbollah, a stance that was immediately followed by Trump contacting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Pape also cautioned that Israel’s restraint is likely to be temporary, and the current cycle of escalating tensions is evolving into a prolonged period of instability.
The Islamic Republic had previously set a condition for accepting a ceasefire with the United States, demanding a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. Recent intensified attacks by the Israeli regime prompted Tehran to issue warnings regarding the potential resumption of war. These Iranian warnings ultimately led to the halt of military actions against the people of Lebanon.
