UK Summons Russian Ambassador Over Drone Incident Near NATO Airspace

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Office announced on Wednesday that it had summoned the Russian Ambassador, citing the alleged entry of a Russian drone into Romanian airspace amid Russia’s military actions in Ukraine.
British Foreign Secretary Ivett Cooper condemned the incident, stating that London stands with its allies to defend NATO territory. In a statement, the Foreign Office declared that Russia’s latest bombardment of civilians in Ukraine, following last week’s violation of NATO airspace and an attack on a residential building in Romania, is unacceptable. The ministry emphasized that harm to civilians within NATO territory serves as a stark reminder of the daily threat faced by Ukrainian civilians.
This development occurs as the Russian Ministry of Defense previously stated that its armed forces conducted retaliatory strikes, including the use of air-launched hypersonic ballistic missiles, targeting Ukrainian defense industry companies in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, and Sumy, in response to alleged terrorist attacks by Kyiv. The Russian Defense Ministry asserted that the objectives of these strikes were achieved, with all designated military targets being hit.
Separately, it was reported that a Ukrainian drone strike on a student dormitory in Luhansk recently caused the building’s collapse, resulting in the deaths of 21 students and injuring 44 others. Following this event, the Russian military initiated retaliatory attacks against Ukrainian military positions.
