Pakistan’s Interior Minister Arrives in Iran Carrying Message for Supreme Leader

Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Iran on a visit carrying a message from Islamabad for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. The visit is expected to address mechanisms for reaching a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Pakistani source informed Al Jazeera that Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who commenced his visit to Iran today, is carrying a message from Pakistan intended for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

Earlier reports had indicated that Mohsin Naqvi would travel to Iran today. According to these sources, Naqvi is set to discuss the framework for achieving a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran during his stay in Iran.

During his two previous visits to Tehran, Naqvi held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, and his counterpart Eskandar Momeni.

The current diplomatic process commenced following a proposal by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the morning of Wednesday, April 8, 2026, for a temporary two-week ceasefire between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. Islamabad has stepped in as a mediator.

Subsequently, at the invitation of the Pakistani Prime Minister, the negotiation delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, arrived in Islamabad on the evening of Friday, April 10, 2026, aboard flight “Minab 168” for negotiations with the American side.
