Lebanese President Aoun Emphasizes Negotiation Amidst Israeli Border Tensions; Herzog Expresses Desire for Beirut Visit
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that any encroachment on any part of Lebanon constitutes an attack on the entire nation, asserting that no region is separable. Aoun outlined the objectives as halting attacks, securing an Israeli withdrawal, facilitating the return of displaced persons and prisoners, deploying the army in the south, and transferring full responsibility for national security and reconstruction to the government.
He further noted that the war has not led to the desired outcomes, resulting in approximately 4,000 martyrs and billions in financial losses without any tangible achievements. The Lebanese President emphasized the need to allow negotiations an opportunity to explore potential results and subsequent evaluations.
Aoun refuted media reports alleging discord among government leaders, affirming complete coordination with the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister, contrary to what has been suggested in the media.
Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog issued a message in Arabic addressed to the Lebanese people and officials, extending a hand of friendship and peace to the Lebanese President and the nation. Speaking from the northern border of occupied Palestine with Lebanon, Herzog claimed to extend his hand for peace, but on the condition that Lebanon distances itself from the influence of Iran and Hezbollah, thereby enabling the Lebanese government to achieve genuine sovereignty and independence.
Herzog elaborated on his aspirations, expressing a dream of visiting Beirut and believing this vision to be attainable, provided that the Lebanese people decide on their country’s future in Beirut, not in Tehran.
