US Congress Members Demand Disclosure of Israeli Settlement Spending

Dozens of members of the U.S. Congress have formally requested Secretary of State Marco Rubio to reveal the financial expenditures associated with Israel’s settlement expansion activities in the occupied West Bank. This move signals growing pressure within U.S. legislative circles for greater transparency regarding these policies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, 42 members of the U.S. Congress have called on Secretary of State Marco Rubio to disclose the full extent of spending by the Israeli occupation government on the construction and expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank. This development comes as the Hamas movement has issued warnings regarding Israeli Finance Minister’s plans for complete control over the city of Hebron.

This action underscores increasing demands within American legislative bodies for enhanced transparency and accountability concerning Israeli settlement policies in the West Bank. The U.S. lawmakers, in a letter addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, invoked Section 22 of the U.S. Constitution, urging the activation of long-standing legal provisions that mandate the U.S. government to provide periodic reports on Tel Aviv’s settlement activities and their impact on U.S. loan guarantee programs for Israel.

The request arrives amid escalating Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank, which are aimed at solidifying the occupation and asserting control over Palestinian territories. These efforts are a focal point of international concern and have drawn significant attention from global diplomatic and legislative bodies.
