Trump Claims Hormuz Strait Partially Reopened, Full Resolution Expected

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz has been partially reopened and is expected to be fully accessible within the next two days, attributing rising energy prices to its closure by Iran.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump announced during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen within the coming two days. He asserted that Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its minelaying activities were responsible for the increase in energy prices.

Trump claimed that the agreement with Iran was beneficial for numerous reasons, including preventing the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. He reiterated his assertion that the Strait of Hormuz has been partially reopened and will be fully operational within 48 hours.

The U.S. President also stated that one of the outcomes of the agreement with Iran was an increase in market indicators and a decrease in fuel prices, noting that oil prices immediately fell following the announcement of the deal. Trump added that the memorandum of understanding did not stipulate any payments to Iran but acknowledged that no party could be prevented from investing there.

He further claimed that sanctions against Iran have been effective, warning that if Iran does not behave appropriately, military action would resume. Trump accused Iran of deceiving the Obama administration and acquiring billions of dollars.

Egyptian President el-Sisi expressed his gratitude to Trump for bringing peace to the Middle East and reaching an agreement. He added that their understanding of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam issue is respected.
