Iran Suspends Switzerland Talks Amid Escalating Israeli Attacks on Lebanon

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an informed source speaking to Al Mayadeen news network revealed that the delegation representing the Islamic Republic of Iran has postponed its journey to Switzerland. The trip was scheduled to commence the first round of negotiations but has been put on hold following the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon.
The source elaborated that the Iranian delegation was prepared to travel to Switzerland for the initial negotiation phase. However, in light of recent developments and the intensification of Israeli aggressions, the decision was made to halt the trip. This move underscores Iran’s stance on the critical nature of the Lebanese issue within the broader negotiation framework.
Tehran had previously informed the American side and mediators that the Lebanese dossier is a central component of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s agenda in the negotiation process. The continuation or suspension of talks, therefore, is intrinsically linked to the developments concerning this dossier. This notification serves as a clear signal of Iran’s strategic priorities and its approach to diplomatic engagement.
Furthermore, the source emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a warning, stating that continued Israeli operations and aggressions extending up to 10 kilometers deep into Lebanese territory constitute a clear violation of the first article of the ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ and the ‘Framework Agreement.’ Such actions, Iran asserts, have the potential to directly impact the trajectory of the ongoing negotiations, signaling a serious consequence for escalated hostilities.
