China: Iran-US MoU Will Boost Ceasefire and Relations, Says Foreign Minister Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States will contribute to consolidating the ceasefire and opening prospects for bilateral relations. China also affirmed its support for Iran’s sovereignty and security, offering to assist in restoring regional peace and stability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed optimism that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States will play a significant role in strengthening the existing ceasefire and fostering improved bilateral relations. This statement follows initial discussions between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland.

Minister Wang Yi emphasized China‘s firm support for Iran’s inherent right to safeguard its sovereignty and security. He further indicated that China remains prepared to provide assistance and actively contribute to efforts aimed at re-establishing peace and stability within the region.

Previously, following the inaugural round of talks between Tehran and Washington held in Switzerland, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs had publicly declared its backing for the mediation initiatives undertaken by Pakistan and Qatar. The ministry had conveyed its hope that both Washington and Tehran would maintain the momentum of their ongoing negotiations.
