Lebanon Grapples with Israeli Drone Overflight Amidst Crucial Washington Talks

Lebanon is facing escalated tensions with an Israeli drone flying low over the Beqaa Valley, occurring concurrently with critical negotiations between Lebanese and Israeli delegations in Washington D.C. These discussions, mediated by the United States, aim to address complex issues including prisoner exchanges and border demarcations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, reporting from Al-Manar, news sources have indicated that an Israeli drone was observed flying at a low altitude over the western Beqaa region. This overflight follows an announcement by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Medical Services, which stated that two individuals were killed and one was injured as a result of Israeli attacks on the town of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.

In parallel with these reported Israeli actions against Lebanon, the Lebanese government’s negotiating team has arrived in Washington D.C. to commence discussions with the Israeli delegation. The fifth round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon is scheduled to take place in the United States.

Al-Jadeed Lebanese television network reported that the political negotiations between Lebanon and Israel will include the case of exchanging the body of Israeli pilot Ron Arad for Lebanese prisoners. News sources have further specified that two security and political delegations from Lebanon are participating in this round of talks, with Lebanon’s Ambassador to the U.S., Nady Mouawad, heading the Lebanese delegation.

Ambassador of the Israeli regime to Washington, Hillel Newman, is leading the Israeli delegation in these negotiations, which are being held under the supervision of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Lebanon is insisting on the complete withdrawal of the Israeli regime, while Tel Aviv is adamant about maintaining its forces’ presence in the area known as the ‘Yellow Line,’ considering it a security zone.

This round of negotiations comes two days after the conclusion of talks in Switzerland between Iran and the United States, with mediation efforts by Qatar and Pakistan.
