Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Decries Double Standards on Ballistic Missiles

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency,
based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Al Jazeera, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated on Tuesday during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that Pakistan aspires to continue playing its role until lasting peace is achieved. He emphasized that regional conflict could have led to widespread destruction and expressed gratitude for the support of leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt in facilitating peace efforts.
The Pakistani Prime Minister conveyed a message to the Supreme Leader of Iran, stating that Iran has successfully negotiated a ceasefire and understanding while preserving its dignity. He described the Iranian people as courageous and highlighted that the country possesses the necessary resources to become one of the fastest-growing economies.
Shahbaz Sharif further commented that the recent understanding does not address Iran’s ballistic missile program. He noted that some parties aim to undermine the agreement between the United States and Iran, deeming the existence of double standards as unacceptable. He found it irrational for some to possess ballistic missiles while Iran is prohibited from having them, reiterating that the agreement does not cover Iran’s ballistic missile issue.
He expressed hope for the dawn of a new era of peace and stability across the region, noting that the Iranian people have demonstrated unity and courage in the face of challenges during the recent crisis. Sharif declared solidarity with the Iranian people, stating that Iran’s success is their success and its failure is their failure. He thanked Iran’s leadership for entrusting Islamabad with mediation during the crisis.
The Pakistani official acknowledged that peace could not have been achieved without the support of friendly nations, expressing gratitude to the Emir of Qatar and the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. He described his negotiations with the Iranian President as highly constructive and pledged to make every effort to elevate bilateral relations to an unprecedented level. Sharif announced his intention to visit Tehran the following week to offer condolences on the passing of the late Iranian leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and to reaffirm solidarity with the Iranian people.
