Gadi Eisenkot: Lebanon is a Graveyard for Israeli Prime Ministers

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Gadi Eisenkot, former Chief of Staff of the Israeli General Staff and a rival to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in upcoming elections, has written in an article for the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth that Netanyahu’s attempt to cover up the October 7th failures through military achievements has collapsed. He is reportedly willing to do whatever it takes to prevent the formation of a political investigation committee.
Eisenkot added, “Lebanon has been the political graveyard for Israeli prime ministers, from Menachem Begin to Ehud Olmert, and today Netanyahu is also neck-deep in its mire.”
Eisenkot emphasized, “We hear that Netanyahu is threatening Haim Katz with expulsion from the Likud party, while if he were to run in the elections alone, without his party, he would not gain more than ten seats. Even Ben-Gurion, who was a much larger figure, was defeated in his experience with the Rafi party.”
Gadi Eisenkot served as the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army from 2015 to 2019 and is known as the architect of the “Dahiya Doctrine.” This strategy is characterized by the application of disproportionate force and the implementation of collective punishment policies against the popular base supporting Hezbollah in Lebanon, including scorched earth tactics in the Dahiya suburb of Beirut.
Eisenkot entered the political arena in 2022 and joined Netanyahu’s emergency war cabinet as a minister. He has since emerged as one of the most prominent opposition figures challenging the current government.
