Lebanese Lawmaker Accuses Israel of Inciting Civil War, Demands Full Withdrawal

A Lebanese Member of Parliament affiliated with Hezbollah has accused Israel of attempting to provoke internal conflict within Lebanon, while stressing the party’s steadfast opposition to direct negotiations with Tel Aviv and demanding a complete Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Amin Sherri, a Member of Parliament in Lebanon affiliated with Hezbollah, affirmed the party’s unwavering stance against direct negotiations with the Israeli regime. He stated that Israel is endeavoring to achieve through inciting a war among the Lebanese people what it could not secure through military conflict, aiming to extract further concessions from Lebanon.

Sherri further elaborated that Hezbollah’s agreement to the deployment of the Lebanese army south of the Litani River is contingent upon the complete withdrawal of the Israeli regime from the region.

Previously, Ahmad Qabalan, the Jaafari Mufti of Lebanon, issued a statement warning that any agreement between the Lebanese government and the Israeli regime, mediated by the United States, would represent the “worst national catastrophe” in Lebanon’s history and lack any legitimacy. He added that the current Lebanese government represents only itself, not the Lebanese people.

Qabalan continued, expressing concern that the framework of such an agreement would effectively grant the Israeli army a form of guardianship over the operations of the Lebanese army and the occupied territories, implicitly recognizing Tel Aviv’s sovereignty over the areas it occupies.
