Putin Comments on Trump’s Stance Regarding Ukraine Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated he is unaware of any efforts by European leaders to sway U.S. President Donald Trump on the Ukraine dispute. Speaking in response to a question about whether European leaders convinced Trump to change his stance after talks in Alaska, Putin remarked, “I would like to start with another point; about what you said, that European leaders have convinced the U.S. President regarding the current events in Ukraine. I know nothing about this, and I doubt that such a thing is possible; meaning, the U.S. President is ultimately a seasoned politician.”
He further elaborated, “No agreement was reached in Anchorage. No one signed anything, but we explored some ways to end the conflict in Ukraine.”
Putin continued, “We explored some possibilities for ending the conflict in Ukraine. We were asked to agree to concessions drafted by the American negotiators. Well, we agreed. Then what? The option of making concessions to us was proposed. We did not decide immediately. But we arrived in Anchorage and said: Yes, we agree.”
He also stated, “We are waiting, after all the events of the heated stage regarding Iran conclude, for representatives of the U.S. government, whom we have met with in Moscow several times before, to arrive.”
Putin added, “Of course, hearing harsh rhetoric from the outside is concerning, but this does not cause fear for President Lukashenko. He handles it with great calmness, balance, and wisdom.”
Concluding his remarks, Putin stated, “I am confident that if negotiations on resolving the Ukraine conflict yield results, we can utilize Belarus’s capacities. I know the position of Alexander Grigoryevich, the President of Belarus; he is fully prepared to support any action that contributes to the peaceful resolution of disputed issues.”
