Erdogan Dismisses Gaza Accusations, Cites Turkish History of Sanctuary

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dismissed accusations from Israeli officials, stating that Ankara pays no heed to the claims from what he described as a criminal network responsible for the deaths of thousands in Gaza. He referenced Turkey’s historical role in offering refuge.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has asserted that his country will not be swayed by accusations from what he termed a criminal network, whose hands are stained with the blood of 73,000 innocent individuals in Gaza, predominantly women and children. Erdogan made these remarks in response to the Israeli regime’s reaction to Ankara’s stance against the regime.

The Turkish President further elaborated, stating that Turkey’s history is marked by the virtue of providing sanctuary to those who fled persecution and torture from the Nazis. He suggested that those who accuse Turkey and the Turkish people of attempting to divert attention from the atrocities committed in Gaza would understand this better if they simply examined their own history.

This comes after President Erdogan recently emphasized that the Zionist ideology, characterized by genocide, occupation, and expansionism, targets not just him or his Justice and Development Party (AKP) or the People’s Alliance, but the entirety of the Turkish nation. Speaking at an event in northwestern Turkey last Saturday, Erdogan declared that the fight against Zionism is undertaken not for personal gain but for the survival of the state and all its people.

Highlighting the dangers posed by Zionist expansionist approaches, Erdogan described the struggle against this ideology as a matter directly linked to Turkey’s security, future, and very existence.
