Netanyahu Warns Erdogan Amid Escalating Rhetoric Over Israel and Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, advising him to ‘calm down’ and asserting Israel’s formidable capabilities in response to Erdogan’s strong criticisms regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sharply criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, urging him to remain calm and highlighting Israel’s strength. Netanyahu stated, “I advise Erdogan to calm down, as we have already demonstrated our capabilities.”

Netanyahu further commented on Erdogan’s expressed desire to see Israel destroyed and Jerusalem under Turkish control. “I think he has forgotten that the Ottoman Empire ended 400 years ago, and today there is a powerful Israel,” Netanyahu remarked.

He added, “Erdogan should calm down. We will not allow anyone to threaten our existence or security.”

Regarding developments in the Sinai Peninsula, Netanyahu mentioned that he had discussed the matter with Egyptian officials and conveyed Tel Aviv’s expectations to Cairo.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 14, Netanyahu acknowledged disagreements with former U.S. President Donald Trump but described their relationship as “very good.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had previously responded to Israeli officials’ reactions to Ankara’s stance against the regime by stating, “We do not give the slightest importance to the accusations of a criminal network whose hands are stained with the blood of 73,000 innocent people in Gaza, most of whom are women and children.”

Erdogan had also emphasized that the Zionist ideology, based on genocide, occupation, and expansionism, targets not only him, the Justice and Development Party, or the People’s Alliance, but all the people of Turkey.

Last Saturday, Erdogan stated in northwestern Turkey, “When we fight Zionism, we are not doing it for ourselves or for personal interests, but for the survival of our state and our entire nation.”
