US Secretary of State Marco Rubio: No Immediate Plans for New Attacks on Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, the Axios news outlet reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told several of his counterparts that Washington currently has no intention of launching new attacks against Iran or returning to extensive military operations. The report indicated that Rubio did not dismiss the possibility of a U.S. attack should Iran initiate military action first, and he outlined the general policy of the Trump administration toward Iran to some officials.

The U.S. official further stated that Washington’s new policy toward Iran involves avoiding military action under current circumstances and increasing economic pressure. He claimed that Iran has lost control of the Strait of Hormuz and that the United States now holds control over it. Axios also cited U.S. officials who alleged that sanctions have deprived Iran of oil revenues, with virtually no oil tankers observed at Kharg Island over the past two weeks.
