14 Children Die in Pakistan School Collapse

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, officials in Pakistan have reported that 14 children perished and eight others were injured when the roof of a private educational center collapsed in the eastern city of Lahore. Emergency services in Punjab Province reported that rescue teams extricated the children and a 30-year-old teacher from the rubble of the private learning facility. The deceased children ranged in age from 5 to 16, with the majority being under nine years old.
Police official Faisal Kamran stated that eight other children sustained injuries and are receiving treatment in a hospital. He added that the owner of the educational center and one other individual have been arrested. Azma Bukhari, Information Minister for Punjab Province, indicated that initial reports suggest the educational center was unregistered and operating within a private residential building under a dilapidated roof. She pledged that stringent legal action would be pursued against those responsible if negligence is proven. Bukhari further announced directives for authorities in Punjab Province to identify unsafe buildings ahead of the seasonal rains and to enforce stricter regulations on unregistered and private educational institutions.
Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, expressed his sorrow over the incident and called for effective security measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
