Lebanese President Aoun Affirms Unwavering Stance in Negotiations, Denies Dismissal Rumors

Lebanese President Michel Aoun asserted on Monday that the nation remains steadfast in its negotiations and has not relinquished its rights, while strongly refuting rumors concerning the potential dismissal of military and security leadership.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun stated that Lebanon is an independent and sovereign nation, engaging in negotiations from its own position to defend its interests. Following the inconclusive experiences of past conflicts, the path of negotiation was chosen as the most viable option. He emphasized that the ‘Framework Agreement’ safeguards Lebanon’s interests, both legally and on the ground, asserting, “We have neither surrendered nor relinquished our rights.”

President Aoun explained that Lebanon is pursuing its supreme national interests through this process. He also commended the stance of Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, in preventing sedition and internal conflict, noting a consensus among all parties that instigating strife or acting against the Lebanese army is unacceptable.

The Lebanese President further stated that the people of southern Lebanon, irrespective of their religious and sectarian affiliations, have the right to live in security and should not bear heavy costs such as casualties, destruction, and displacement every few years. He underscored that the stability of southern Lebanon is an inseparable component of the nation’s overall stability.

Furthermore, President Aoun categorically denied rumors about a decision to dismiss Army Commander Rudolph Hraimi and heads of security agencies. He highlighted that these commanders play a crucial role in maintaining security and consolidating the country’s sovereignty, and that the government fully supports them in carrying out their national duties.
