Hamas Condemns Israeli Knesset’s Preliminary Vote to Ban Call to Prayer

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance movement, Hamas, has strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s preliminary approval of a bill that would prohibit the broadcast of the call to prayer in Jerusalem and occupied territories, labeling it a clear violation of religious freedom and a new escalation in a religious war.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance movement, Hamas, on Wednesday reacted to the preliminary vote in the Israeli Knesset to ban and restrict the broadcast of the call to prayer in mosques in Jerusalem and occupied territories. Hamas stated that this preliminary draft law is a clear transgression against freedom of worship and a new act of incitement within the framework of a religious war that the occupiers have initiated against our people and our holy sites. This action constitutes a blatant violation of international treaties and norms that guarantee the freedom to practice religious rituals and protect places of worship.

The movement emphasized that the insistence of the criminal Zionist enemy on approving racist laws targeting everything with Arab and Islamic identity demonstrates the depth of extremism governing the regime’s policies. This underscores the continuation of “Judaization” plans aimed at eradicating the Arab and Islamic identity of our people, targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic holy sites, and attempting to impose false realities that hinder freedom of worship, the flourishing of mosques, and presence within them, posing a clear challenge to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.

In its statement, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance affirmed that the call to prayer will remain an eternal slogan in Islam and an integral part of the identity of Palestine and Jerusalem. It asserted that the occupiers’ laws and oppressive measures will never silence the voices of mosques or erase their religious and civilizational manifestations. Just as Judaization policies have failed to alter the identity of this land or distort its history, the fascist occupying regime will reap nothing but further defeat and despair from these policies and decisions.

Hamas concluded by calling on the Palestinian masses, the Arab and Islamic nations, and religious and legal institutions to expand their efforts in unity to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic holy sites. The movement also stressed the necessity of supporting the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem, backing their presence and resolve at Al-Aqsa, confronting all occupation attempts to harm freedom of worship, and exposing their racist policies and continuous aggressions in all international forums.
