Qatar Foreign Minister to Visit Tehran Soon, Al Mayadeen Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar‘s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani is set to visit Tehran in the near future, as reported by Al Mayadeen, citing a diplomatic source. The source did not provide further details regarding the trip.

This announcement comes as Qatar continues its diplomatic efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran. Majed Al Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated yesterday that their endeavors to ensure the return to and resumption of negotiations between the two nations are ongoing. He characterized the U.S. sanctions against Iran as unilateral and expressed support for mediation efforts aimed at resolving the crisis. Al Ansari reiterated Qatar’s commitment to its mediating role, noting that no new developments have occurred in this particular file.

He emphasized that any escalation of tensions in the region would have repercussions across the entire region and globally, underscoring that communication with all parties remains active. The primary objective, he added, is to reach an agreement between the involved parties, with Qatar not supporting any side against the other. The spokesperson also mentioned that countries in the Persian Gulf region support achieving a peaceful resolution to the crisis between the U.S. and Iran.
