Lebanon Prioritizes Israeli Withdrawal Timeline in Future Negotiations, Says Prime Minister Salam

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that the country’s priority in upcoming negotiation rounds will be to establish a timeline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon. He further clarified that the outcome from Washington constitutes a “tripartite guiding framework” for continuing discussions, not a definitive agreement or treaty.
Prime Minister Salam asserted that Lebanon is meticulously documenting all violations of international law. He affirmed that the nation has not relinquished its right to refer matters to international courts, but has merely suspended the implementation of this right.
Earlier, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reportedly claimed that Lebanon is an independent and sovereign nation engaging in negotiations to defend its interests. He indicated that after unsuccessful wartime experiences, the path of negotiation was chosen as the optimal course. The “framework agreement,” he stated, safeguards Lebanon’s interests both legally and on the ground, asserting that the country has neither surrendered nor abandoned its rights. According to Aoun, Lebanon aims to secure its paramount national interests through this process.
