Erdogan and Pakistan PM Discuss Regional Issues, Boost Bilateral Ties

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated in a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that regional and international issues were discussed and views were exchanged during their meeting. Erdogan highlighted that the world breathed a sigh of relief thanks to an agreement mediated by Islamabad, acknowledging the Prime Minister’s significant role in achieving this outcome. The Turkish President affirmed their continuous support for resolving problems through dialogue and negotiation. He also commented on Israel’s alleged attempts to disrupt a ceasefire agreement with Iran, warning that Israel, accustomed to conflict, seeks to reintroduce the scent of gunpowder to the region, an action that must be opposed. He emphasized that any solution not originating from and involving regional countries would not be sustainable.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in turn, reiterated the commitment to jointly support global peace, mentioning the successful Islamabad agreement between Washington and Tehran, and vowed to continue such efforts through practical action. He described the Turkey-Pakistan relationship as historic, significant, fraternal, and deep, with cooperation across various sectors and a familiar recognition of Turkey by every Pakistani. Sharif acknowledged Turkey’s steadfast support during Pakistan’s difficult times and challenges. He noted that discussions with President Erdogan covered bilateral relations and areas of mutual cooperation, highlighting Turkey’s remarkable advancements in defense, military, and strategic fields under Erdogan’s leadership. The Pakistani Prime Minister stated that the partnership between Turkey and Pakistan has entered a new strategic phase, a point reinforced during the joint economic meeting in Istanbul. Sharif also expressed the ambition to increase bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan to five billion dollars, underscoring a commitment to collaborative efforts for strengthening relations.
