Mass Mourning in Tehran Fueled by Anger Towards U.S. and Israel Following Leader’s Death

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Egyptian Independent reported that widespread anger directed at the United States and Israel is palpable among the vast crowds of mourners in Iran. Decades of mourners, devotees, and loyalists clad in black were seen beating their chests and chanting slogans in sorrow for the martyred Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the late leader of Iran. They converged before dawn to bid farewell to five caskets arranged at the massive Grand Musalla of Tehran. These coffins contained the remains of the late Ayatollah and his relatives, who were casualties of attacks attributed to the U.S. and Israel.
The media outlet added that an atmosphere permeated by sorrow prevailed, with tears streaming down the faces of many attendees. Nafiseh Sadat Sadri, 30, shared with CNN, “I loved him even more than my father. It feels like I have lost my father again. I feel orphaned; this grief burns in my heart.” Talk of retribution was also on the lips of many. Abdullah Abipour, 45, stated, “I assure you that from now on, until we avenge the blood of our leader, we will not allow [U.S. President Donald Trump] to have a good night’s sleep.”
The Egyptian Independent further noted that Afshin, 60, a resident of Arizona in the United States, told CNN in front of the casket carrying the revered body of Khamenei, “Trump did ‘the worst possible thing’ by causing Khamenei’s martyrdom.”
