Trump to Meet Putin Post-Zelensky Discussion in Turkey
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump intends to hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This information was released by a senior U.S. administration official, citing reports from Reuters.
These engagements are slated to take place during the NATO summit, scheduled for July 7th and 8th (equivalent to Tir 16th and 17th in the Iranian calendar) in Ankara, Turkey.
Earlier, CNN had also reported on the potential meeting between Trump and Zelensky, and raised the possibility of discussions between the U.S. President and Putin.
The White House has confirmed President Trump’s attendance in Turkey and his meeting with Zelensky through an official statement, though no further details were provided regarding a potential direct conversation with Putin. Nevertheless, reports suggest that Washington aims to manage the tense atmosphere between Russia and Ukraine at this summit.
The NATO summit in Ankara is being convened amidst rising defense expenditures among member states and discussions concerning the Ukraine crisis, which are at the forefront of the agenda for the leaders attending the summit.
