Trump Addresses Iran Tensions, Rules Out Regime Change

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that regime change in Iran is not on the agenda but warned of potential further military action, while also discussing aid to Ukraine during a NATO summit.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted on Wednesday that the issue of regime change in Iran is not being considered, despite ongoing tensions. Speaking at the conclusion of a NATO leaders’ summit, Trump sought to downplay U.S. provocations in the region, claiming, “The behavior of the Iranians is very bad, and we attacked them after they targeted ships in the Strait of Hormuz.”

In what appeared to be a desperate and populist stance against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the U.S. President further stated, “I am not satisfied with the actions of the Iranians; regime change is not on the agenda. We may attack Iran again tonight.”

Trump, seemingly unwilling to acknowledge the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, alleged, “We do not want them to acquire nuclear weapons. We must not allow the Iranians to obtain nuclear weapons, because if they possessed such weapons, they would use them.”

The U.S. President also indicated discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding assistance to Ukraine. “We will review with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, what help we can provide to his country,” Trump noted.

Trump further recalled that former U.S. President Barack Obama provided funds to the Iranians and that the agreement he signed with them (the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA) was a disaster. This American official, without acknowledging the defensive nature of Tehran’s actions against Washington’s aggressions, claimed, “Iran’s attacks are a violation of the interim agreement, and the Iranians are mistaken in doing so. They are deceptive, they violate the agreement, and they deny that they are committed to halting their nuclear program!”
