Senior Cleric: All Affairs Must Focus on Retaliation for Leader’s Martyrdom
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hojjat-ul-Islam Ahmad Motahhari-Asl, delivering the Friday prayer sermon in Tabriz, stated that the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader was a source of blessing, particularly in strengthening regional unity, evidenced by the large public attendance at mourning ceremonies in Iraq. He asserted that the enemy’s perception of Iran being isolated in the region was disproven by the enthusiastic participation of Iraqi people, which also fostered greater cohesion among Iranians.
Motahhari-Asl underscored that all efforts should be concentrated on seeking retribution and revenge against those responsible for the assassination, with those planning and executing such actions receiving support. He further addressed recent statements by the U.S. President, noting that the massive public turnout at the Leader’s funeral ceremonies contradicted claims of his lack of popularity. The cleric pointed out that despite enemy threats, the Iranian people are increasingly taking to the streets to demand revenge.
Regarding the U.S. President’s visit to Turkey, Motahhari-Asl expressed anticipation that Turkish officials would clarify that any statements made by Trump represent his personal views and not those of the Turkish government. He also highlighted the importance of chastity and hijab as crucial components for preserving women’s dignity in society, warning that neglecting these aspects would lead to numerous social and cultural harms.
Commemorating the Day of Chastity and Hijab, Motahhari-Asl recalled the Goharshad Mosque incident in 1945, where the Reza Khan regime violently suppressed people and clerics who gathered in defense of hijab. He stated that hijab enhances a woman’s honor and value and urged a closer examination of the consequences of promoting immodesty in Western societies. The cleric also identified enjoining good and forbidding evil as public duties in an Islamic society, emphasizing the significant role of chastity and hijab in safeguarding women’s status.
Touching upon Social Security and Welfare Day, he called for increased attention to citizens’ healthcare issues. Despite considerable insurance services, many medications and hospital services remain outside insurance coverage, placing an additional burden on people. Motahhari-Asl stressed the need to ensure that patients and their families face no concerns beyond the illness itself, particularly regarding treatment costs.
He also addressed energy consumption, suggesting that serious attention to fuel conservation and management could resolve a significant portion of related problems. Finally, Motahhari-Asl acknowledged the profound and deeply rooted interest of the Iranian people in religious teachings and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), noting how this connection has consistently manifested during critical junctures.
