Lebanese President Reaffirms Commitment to Direct Talks with Israel

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Michel Aoun has reiterated his commitment to direct negotiations with the Israeli regime. He stated that he will not step back from the negotiation process, acknowledging that the path is not smooth due to Israeli calculations and the tense situation between Iran and the United States. President Aoun claimed that if Israel adheres to the framework agreement, Lebanon‘s rights could be restored through diplomatic channels.
The president, seemingly disregarding the achievements of resistance movements against the Israeli regime, suggested that Lebanon has an opportunity to reclaim gains lost in what he described as a fruitless war, particularly in light of American support and actions. He also adopted a deflectionary stance, questioning why the Lebanese people should continue to pay the price for wars ignited by foreign parties for their own interests.
Concurrently with President Aoun’s remarks, some Lebanese sources reported that Lebanon has decided to participate in the next round of direct negotiations with the Israeli regime, scheduled to take place in Rome on July 14 and 15. This insistence on direct talks comes as the Israeli regime carried out airstrikes and drone attacks on areas in southern Lebanon on Friday, continuing its ceasefire violations.
