Iraqi Prime Minister Orders Investigation into Kuwaiti Coast Guard Killing of Fisherman

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidan, has ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Staff of the Army, and the field security forces in Basra to pursue the details surrounding the killing of Iraqi fisherman Najm Abdullah. This directive, as reported by Mehr News Agency citing the Iraqi Prime Ministry’s official website, underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the incident.
Prime Minister Al-Zaidan stressed the critical importance of implementing all necessary legal measures to ensure such tragic events do not recur, thereby safeguarding the lives and properties of Iraqi citizens. His instruction highlights a firm stance on protecting national interests and the well-being of the populace.
Previously, Badran Al-Tamimi, head of the Iraqi Fishermen’s Union, had announced the death of an Iraqi fisherman, who was reportedly shot by Kuwaiti coast guard personnel. This incident has since triggered significant outrage among the Iraqi public and several Iraqi officials.
