Europe Considers Tolls for Strait of Hormuz Navigation, Guardian Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The English newspaper The Guardian has reported that some senior British government figures believe that toll payment systems for navigation services in certain international waterways, such as the Strait of Malacca and the English Channel, are permissible and entirely natural. Europe is reportedly considering proposals that could allow for the collection of tolls and navigation fees in the Strait of Hormuz. The British newspaper added that a proposal for toll payments in the Strait of Hormuz has been prepared by Oman in cooperation with English legal experts, with its foundations adapted from the Malacca Strait toll system. However, the Deputy of David Lammy, the British Prime Minister, stated that imposing mandatory tolls on the Strait of Hormuz would be catastrophic. According to the report, Oman has proposed sending its legal experts to Tehran to explain this plan in detail. On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, traveled to Oman today to discuss regional and international developments, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz, with officials from that country.
