Baghdad Expresses Deep Concern Over Regional Maritime Security Tensions

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has voiced profound apprehension regarding escalating regional tensions that are impacting maritime navigation, warning of negative consequences for regional stability and international trade.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing its deep concern over the continuation of tensions and developments affecting maritime security in the region. The ministry highlighted that this situation could have adverse repercussions on regional security and stability, as well as the course of international trade.

In its statement, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, respecting the sovereignty of nations, good neighborly relations, and exercising restraint from any actions that could lead to an escalation of tensions or harm navigation security and safety.

The statement continued: “Iraq once again emphasizes the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of countries and refraining from undermining their security and stability, as this can contribute to consolidating regional security and strengthening mutual trust among the region’s nations.”

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded by calling for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes. Simultaneously, it underscored Baghdad’s support for all efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, preserving regional security and stability, and safeguarding the shared interests of the region’s peoples.
