Saudi Arabia Launches Airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport, Ending De-escalation Phase

Saudi Arabian forces launched multiple airstrikes against Sana’a International Airport, an act that the Yemeni armed forces spokesperson declared signals the end of a de-escalation phase between the two sides.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabian military forces carried out several airstrikes against Sana’a International Airport moments ago, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, quoting Al Mayadeen.

The spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces confirmed the news, stating that the enemy Saudi attack on Sana’a International Airport has brought an end to the de-escalation phase between the two parties. Yahya Saree emphasized that this aggression will not go unanswered.

A reporter for Al-Masirah network in Sana’a reported that the airstrikes targeted the runways of Sana’a International Airport. The report indicates that the attack inflicted damage on the airport’s facilities, although further details regarding the exact extent of this damage have not yet been released.

The targeting of Sana’a International Airport occurs amidst previous similar escalations in Yemen’s airspace. The Yemeni armed forces had previously announced that their air defense successfully repelled a squadron of Saudi fighter jets attempting to prevent an Iranian passenger plane from landing at Sana’a Airport, forcing them to leave Yemeni airspace.

The Yemeni armed forces warned that any new violation or aggression would be met with a targeted response against ‘Saudi vital interests.’ They also stressed the continuation of air flights between Sana’a and Tehran with the aim of ‘breaking the siege imposed on the airport.’
