Politico: Israel Grapples with Declining US Support Amidst Rising Criticism

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the publication Politico has reported on Israel‘s escalating anxiety and that of its American supporters regarding a substantial erosion of the regime’s political and popular standing in the United States. This decline in favorability comes amid an unprecedented wave of criticism from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
The report indicates that Israel, with the backing of its lobby groups and Zionist organizations, is undertaking measures to counteract this diminishing influence. These efforts include intensifying engagement with members of Congress, increasing political expenditures, and organizing high-level meetings, notably Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Washington.
The analysis suggests that the relationship between the United States and Israel is navigating one of its most sensitive periods in recent decades. Tensions with the U.S. are no longer confined to pro-Palestinian circles but have extended to broader segments of both Democrats and Republicans.
This shift was notably demonstrated by a vote where over 100 Democratic representatives supported a resolution calling for a halt to military aid to Tel Aviv.
Surveys reveal a decrease in support for Zionist policies, particularly among American youth, who express greater empathy for Palestinians and criticize Israel’s actions.
However, the report, citing former U.S. officials and political analysts, casts doubt on Tel Aviv’s capacity to reverse this trend, suggesting that the core issue lies within Israel’s own policies.
