Military Analyst: Iran Holds Strategic Advantage in Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a military expert has indicated that Iran holds the dominant hand in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the nation’s significant military capabilities in the strategic waterway. Dimitri Korneyev, a specialist in military affairs, noted that while the precise number and composition of Iranian forces in the Strait are not publicly detailed, Iran is equipped with mobile coastal anti-ship missile systems that can cover almost the entire passage.
Korneyev further elaborated that Iran possesses ballistic missiles with guided warheads capable of destroying targets at ranges of 150 to 300 kilometers. The country’s reconnaissance drones can also furnish targeting data for these missiles. The military affairs analyst also suggested that Iran might deploy Shahed suicide drones equipped with electro-optical systems and rapid communication capabilities.
In addition to these advanced armaments, the analyst pointed out that Iran retains the option of mining the Strait of Hormuz, a measure that could effectively close the vital shipping lane. He concluded by stating that it is unlikely the United States would risk deploying its destroyers near Iran’s coastlines, an area within the range of defensive missiles and drones. Consequently, America’s capacity to counter Iran in this region would be severely restricted.
