The embassy indicated that this action by Jordan was taken due to a specific and credible threat. The U.S. Embassy in Jordan strongly cautioned all Americans to refrain from traveling to the airport or port in Aqaba. However, Jordan has denied the U.S. warning regarding the evacuation of Aqaba airport and port. Responsible Jordanian sources within the country stated that the report published by the U.S. Embassy concerning the evacuation of Aqaba airport and port is not accurate.
