Trump Claims Americans Oppose War, Contradicting Past Stance

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, during a ceremony commemorating American military personnel lost in operations against Iran, sought to address domestic criticism regarding the costly intervention and its repercussions, particularly the rise in energy prices. He claimed, “The Iranians will pay a heavy price, and their capabilities will be destroyed!”

Contrary to his earlier position where he stated Americans welcomed an agreement with Tehran, the U.S. President now contended, “Americans are not against war, and nobody wants Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.”

President Trump, who recently withdrew from the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and ordered a resumption of military operations against Iran, which were met with a strong response from Iran’s armed forces, had on Monday posted an image of survey results online, asserting that Americans support a peace agreement with Iran.

According to this poll, over 60 percent of Americans agreed with signing a peace agreement with Iran, while over 15 percent stated they had no opinion on the matter. Approximately 25 percent indicated their opposition to such an agreement.
