According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut has stated that there is increasing evidence suggesting Donald Trump is not serious about reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran. Murphy, a prominent figure in American politics, shared his assessment via the social media platform X.

The senator elaborated that an agreement between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia concerning nuclear technology could potentially ignite a nuclear competition within the region. He further posited that such a development would reduce Iran’s motivation to limit its own nuclear program.

This statement comes amid reports from two news sources to Reuters, indicating that the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump intends to submit a nuclear energy technology exchange agreement with Saudi Arabia to Congress in the coming days. These sources detailed that the U.S. administration plans to present a “123 Agreement” to Congress, which would be signed by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. The two officials had previously signed a preliminary accord in Riyadh last year.

The proposed contract references Article 123 of the U.S. Atomic Energy Act of 1954. This provision obligates the U.S. government and American companies to collaborate with Saudi entities in the development of a multi-billion dollar civilian nuclear industry.
