Oil Tanker Traffic in Strait of Hormuz Hits Record Low Amid Tensions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data released by Kepler, a company specializing in vessel tracking, indicates that only one supertanker, identified as the Newgiant, passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. This marks the lowest volume of traffic observed since May 7th.
The supertanker was carrying two million barrels of crude oil from Basra, Iraq, bound for the port of Rizhao in China. Its passage through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday represents a significant decrease in vessel movements.
Kepler’s report highlights this minimal figure, while oil prices have once again surged to $100 per barrel. This price increase is attributed to the continued disruptions affecting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which have been exacerbated by ongoing tensions.
