US States Sue Trump Administration Over Election Law Changes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, four U.S. states have lodged complaints against the Trump administration, protesting new election laws that compel them to alter their electoral processes. The New York Times reported that these states are challenging the directives, citing concerns over federal overreach.

The Attorney General of Illinois stated in an interview with The New York Times that President Trump cannot hold states hostage to achieve his objectives. This legal challenge emerges amid a series of contentious decisions by the U.S. President, including the recent removal or forced resignation of two Democratic members and one Republican member of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC). This move has left the federal body without any commissioners just months before the 2026 midterm elections.

The White House has confirmed these personnel changes, asserting the President’s authority to dismiss individuals who are not aligned with the mission of “ensuring election security and the tabulation of legal votes.”
