China Affirms Unwavering Support for Iran’s Sovereignty and Security

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ meeting. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China stated that the recent memorandum of understanding represents a valuable achievement in mediation, reflecting the desire of Iran and the peace-loving nations of the Middle East to end conflict and establish peace.
The ministry emphasized that the door to negotiations should not be closed and should not be abandoned as long as there is hope for peace. China, as Iran’s comprehensive strategic partner, unequivocally supports Iran’s safeguarding of its sovereignty, security, and national dignity.
China remains committed to President Xi Jinping’s four-point plan for maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East. The Chinese Foreign Ministry also stressed that Beijing will continue to support mediation efforts by Pakistan and other parties to resume talks and negotiations as soon as possible.
The ministry concluded by stating that China will handle the issue of the Strait of Hormuz appropriately and strives to improve relations among neighboring countries.
