Moktada al-Sadr Denounces Iraq Incursions, Cites Need for National Sovereignty
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Moktada al-Sadr, head of the Sadrist Movement in Iraq, has reacted to incursions into Iraqi territory with a statement condemning the attacks. In his statement, al-Sadr, without naming the aggressors, denounced the assaults and simultaneously condemned the actions of militias that are dragging Iraq into a futile war.
Al-Sadr urged the Iraqi government to establish security within the country, asserting that the government must enforce national sovereignty and make serious efforts to protect the lives and sanctity of the Iraqi people, while avoiding descent into abhorrent sectarian disputes. The statement described Saudi Arabia, which played a direct role in the incursions, as a “brother,” and called on Iraqi resistance groups not to provide a pretext for “brothers in the Persian Gulf states” to target sacred Iraqi land.
Moktada al-Sadr added that all parties should act with a spirit of brotherhood and peace, and should not fall prey to the plots of the Zionist-American enemy to draw brothers into war and conflict. He continued, stating that Iraq and its people need peace and that war must stop, as it has severely depleted all of Iraq’s capabilities and dignity.
The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced that the number of martyrs from the brutal aggression by the United States and Saudi Arabia against their positions has increased to 20, with the number of wounded reaching 32.
Early this morning, American-Saudi aggressors targeted PMF bases in the provinces of Karbala, Nineveh, and Mosul with airstrikes. Iraqi sources added that resistance bases in the city of Amerli in Salah al-Din province and the city of Al-Dibis in Kirkuk province in northern Iraq were also targeted in the Saudi-American attacks.
