Egypt Attributes Damietta Gas Facility Fire to Drone Attack

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egypt‘s cabinet has concluded that a fire that occurred yesterday at the port of Damietta was the result of a drone attack. This announcement puts an end to speculation surrounding the incident at the port.

Earlier, official Egyptian sources had denied any drone involvement with ships in the Damietta port. The Damietta Port Management Committee issued a statement asserting that maritime and logistical services at the port would continue around the clock without interruption, meeting the needs of shipping lines.

Maritime security firm Ambrey reported on Wednesday that a liquefied natural gas (LNG) floating storage unit with American ownership was targeted. Reuters also reported that the LNG floating storage facility, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, was attacked by at least one drone in Damietta, Egypt.
