US Faces Critical Shortage of Long-Range Missiles Amid Iran Conflict, Report Claims

The United States has reportedly depleted nearly its entire global stockpile of long-range precision missiles, including all ATACMS, and is facing accelerating consumption of Patriot and THAAD interceptors, according to a CBS News report citing informed sources.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CBS News has reported, citing two informed sources, that the United States has nearly exhausted its entire global reserve of long-range precision missiles during the conflict with Iran, specifically consuming its entire inventory of ATACMS missiles.

The network quoted American officials stating that the primary concern currently revolves around the number of interceptor missiles for the Patriot and THAAD systems, as their consumption rate exceeds the U.S. industry’s capacity for replacement or new production.

Previously, CNN, also citing informed sources, had reported that the U.S. military had used approximately 80 percent of the THAAD missile inventory and nearly half of its Patriot missiles since the commencement of hostilities with Iran.

The report further indicated that U.S. forces have also expended roughly half of their Tomahawk cruise missile reserves in the conflict with Iran.

CNN added, citing its sources, that senior U.S. military commanders have warned of a dangerous decline in the Pentagon’s ammunition reserves, a development that has become a major concern for the Department of Defense.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials informed CNN that the depletion of the United States’ air defense system inventories has also raised concerns among some Persian Gulf countries.
