Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Denounce Allegations Against Chairman, Vow Legal Action
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has issued a stern statement refuting accusations directed at its chairman, Faleh al-Fayyad. The PMF asserted that its forces were on high alert prior to a recent attack and announced its intention to pursue legal channels against those responsible for fabricating rumors.
In a statement released on Sunday, the PMF vehemently condemned claims made by certain political figures that al-Fayyad possessed prior knowledge of an attack on PMF headquarters but failed to inform his forces. The organization described these assertions as entirely baseless and lacking any supporting evidence.
The PMF’s statement detailed that all its forces had been on a state of heightened alert since the onset of regional developments. Specifically, directives for maximum vigilance and safety measures were communicated to all units two days before the recent aggression, which the PMF credits with preventing greater casualties. However, the statement noted that the Fourth Battalion of the 30th Brigade did not fully implement these preventive measures, resulting in the highest number of fatalities within that unit. Consequently, the PMF leadership has ordered an investigation into the responsible officials to ascertain the extent of this lapse and determine accountability.
The organization expressed regret over the exploitation of martyrs’ sacrifices by certain political factions. It stated that it is regrettable that while PMF members were confronting a brutal assault and bleeding, some political currents are attempting to leverage the bloodshed and injuries of martyrs and wounded personnel for political score-settling and to damage the reputation of PMF commanders.
Emphasizing that such actions demonstrate a severe lack of national, professional, and ethical responsibility, the PMF declared its right to legally pursue individuals who disseminate false news and unfounded accusations against its commanders with the intent to defame them. The organization stated that responses to these baseless charges will be managed through a framework that safeguards the collective rights and ensures legal proceedings are followed.
