Iranian Strikes Expose U.S. Base Vulnerabilities, Wall Street Journal Reports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iranian attacks against U.S. military bases in the Middle East, most recently in Jordan, demonstrate the escalating threat posed by Iran’s missile and drone capabilities. The report indicates that the United States is inadequately prepared to defend its overseas bases, critical infrastructure, and personnel.

The publication further noted that U.S. sites throughout the Pacific region are particularly susceptible to attacks from China and North Korea, mirroring the vulnerabilities observed at American bases in the Middle East. The Wall Street Journal emphasized that Congress and the Pentagon face a clear choice: invest now to protect these facilities or confront far more severe problems in the future.

Since the commencement of what is termed the “Epic Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation, Iran has conducted over 2,000 aerial, missile, and drone attacks across the Middle East. These strikes have damaged at least 20 sites used by the U.S. military in eight countries. Iran’s actions have incurred an estimated $13 billion in costs for the United States, attributed to equipment damage and facility destruction. In total, Iran has damaged or destroyed more than 42 U.S. military aircraft, with several of these incidents occurring at air bases.
