US Loses at Least 45 MQ-9 Reaper Drones in Conflict with Iran

The United States military has lost at least 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones, representing a quarter of its fleet, during engagements with Iran, with estimated damages exceeding $1.3 billion.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Washington Post, citing three U.S. officials, reported that the American military has lost at least 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones amid its conflict with Iran. This figure accounts for approximately one-quarter of the drone fleet. The estimated value of the damages incurred by these drones is projected to be over $1.3 billion.

The Washington Post further indicated that the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) is moving towards a gradual phasing out of the MQ-9 Reaper drones. The military plans to replace them with more affordable armed drones for reconnaissance and surveillance missions.
