Oil Tanker Damaged by Drone Attack in Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported an incident in the Strait of Hormuz. Military officials confirmed that an oil tanker, transiting the strait on an outbound route, was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The UKMTO stated that the tanker sustained minor damage, and all crew members are reported to be unharmed and safe. No environmental pollution has been reported.

Meanwhile, ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has decreased in late-week traffic compared to its monthly average, according to data from Kepler shared with Reuters. On Thursday, nine vessels transited the strait, following five passages the previous day. This figure remains below the daily average for August, which saw approximately 12 vessels passing through the strait each day.

The vessels observed included five entering the Persian Gulf and four departing towards the Gulf of Oman, with the vast majority utilizing Iranian shipping lanes.
